Can we have our Groomsmen in just colored vests?

I know it isn’t traditional, But do you think we could dress up our groomsmen in matching vests that match our bridesmaids without making them get tuxes? I think it would be so cute but my mom doesn’t think it’s traditional enough. We are just having a park reception though after our chapel wedding.

you can do whatever you want

Sure! That’s what we did. Our wedding wasn’t super formal, and it was an afternoon wedding in Texas in May, so jackets would have been overkill. Plus the groom wasn’t wearing a suit or tux. We had the groomsmen in gold vests and ties. They looked great! And I think it looks plenty formal enough: http://www.mytailorstore.com/images/shop/7288.jpg

depends on climate

here in scotland, they would just look like they were missing their jackets, as its always cold, even in summer
if you live somewhere clement, then they would look great

but it wont be as formal, than if they wore jackets

It’s a great MODERN look. Remind your Mom it’s your wedding.

I’m with mom.

If you want a casual wedding, then put the men in white shirts and khakis. Please don’t put them in half a tux. For a formal wedding, they will look much better in jackets for the ceremony and the photos.

And don’t worry . . . they will shed those jackets at the reception . . . and then everyone will see their colored vests.

Please listen to mom.

Hi and congratulations!

To be honest, I don’t think it would look good.

I would do one OR the other….meaning….

Either get the suits/tuxes with the vest OR if you are wanting casual then just go with dark or khaki pants and a white shirt and tie. But I don’t like the look of just pants and a shirt and vest. It doesn’t look “complete” in my view.

But….your wedding….your decision!
